CCS and the Oil Sands: Shell's Quest Carbon Capture & Storage Project
Ian Silk, Venture Manager - Quest Carbon Capture & Storage Project
Carbon capture and storage is a technology that captures and stores the carbon dioxide released from large industrial facilities deep underground so that it does not enter the atmosphere. Shell Canada's proposed Quest Carbon Capture and Storage Project would capture more than one million tonnes per year from its Scotford Upgrader near Fort Saskatchewan and inject it more than two kilometres underground for safe and permanent storage. This session will discuss the importance of CCS technology in global efforts to reduce CO2 emissions and the role that Shell's Quest Project could play in helping to advance the broad implementation of this technology.READ MORE>
